Broadcaster Lisa Byington will be making history later this month.

Andrew Marchand of the New York Post tweeted out some of the names that will be calling NCAA Tournament games later this month. On that list was Byington, who is a frequent play-by-play voice for football and basketball on FOX and Big Ten Network.

Byington will be part of the NCAA Tournament broadcast crew for CBS and TNT next week. And she’ll be the first female play-by-play broadcaster to call a men’s tournament game.

That’s pretty awesome.

Byington is no stranger to making broadcast history. In 2017, she became the first female play-by-play broadcaster for a football game on Big Ten Network. Since making her debut, she’s frequently called major football and basketball games for the network.

This year’s NCAA Tournament is scheduled to begin with the First Four on Thursday, March 18 and the first round begins on Friday, March 19. Selection Sunday will be March 14.
