Butler basketball is making a change and is firing head basketball coach LaVarr Jordan.

During his playing career, Jordan was a part of multiple NCAA Tournament teams at Butler. Unfortunately, his tenure leading the Bulldogs did not go as well.

“After a thorough evaluation, I have come to the decision that a change in the leadership of our men’s basketball program is needed,” said AD Barry Collier via press release. “These decisions are never easy, but are incredibly more difficult when it impacts a high-character Bulldog who has represented our university so well for many years. I want to thank LaVall for his dedication to our program, and we wish him and his family all the best moving forward.”

In 5 seasons with the Bulldogs, Jordan led the team to an 83-74 overall record with one NCAA Tournament appearance and one appearance in the NIT. Unfortunately, Jordan’s best season came in the 2019-20 season when Butler went 22-9 overall. The 2020 NCAA Tournament was canceled.

A native of Michigan, Jordan has spent a pair of stints in the B1G. Jordan was a part of Todd Lickliter’s Iowa staff from 2007-10 and then spent 2010-16 on John Beilein’s staff at Michigan.
