Those hoping for a fun college football contest between BYU and Navy on Monday night were disappointed. At least through the first half.
BYU absolutely dominated the first 30 minutes of Monday’s primetime showdown, taking a 31-0 lead into the locker room. The Cougars flexed their muscle in every facet of the game through two quarters.
BYU totaled 304 yards of offense, with 193 of those coming on the ground. Running back Tyler Allgeier had an outstanding half, totaling 110 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Lopini Katoa accounted for 67 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 8 carries.
Cougars quarterback Zach Wilson completed 10-of-15 passes for 111 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
Navy failed to get anything going offensively, picking up just 48 yards total with 32 on the ground. Fullback Jamale Carothers was the leading rusher with 15 yards on 6 touches, while Myles Fells had a carry for 14 yards. Nelson Smith took 4 carries for 11 yards.
Dalen Morris threw 4 passes for Navy, completing 2 for 16 yards.
BYU entered the game as a 1-point favorite, but so far, it’s having no trouble with Navy.
