It depends how you want to look at it.

On one hand, it would be a record. Never before has the B1G sent 11 teams to bowl games. Last year was a record with 10, and that only happened because of a technicality.

On the other hand, it would be a step back for the conference. The B1G has sent at least one team to the College Football Playoff in each of its first two years of existence. Not having one there in 2016 wouldn’t help the conference’s brand.

That’s the scenario that CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm played out in his first bowl projections of the 2016 season. Palm, who comes out with weekly projections, did not have the B1G in either semifinal game. He had Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame making the field.

But on the flip side, he had every B1G bowl team from 2015 making the field again, and he also added Maryland. The Terps do have a favorable non-conference schedule with home games against Rutgers and Purdue.

Palm also tabbed two B1G teams for New Year’s Six games. Iowa and Ohio State got the nod, but Michigan and Michigan State did not. Click here to see Palm’s complete projections.

Here’s where he had each B1G team:
