This is one final four we would love to see!

With the college football season halfway over, we are getting closer and closer to the first rankings of the College Football Playoff. While the first official rankings are still a few weeks away, plenty of analysts have tried to predict what those first rankings will look like.

Jerry Palm with CBS Sports took a stab at predicting the rankings on Tuesday, and the initial top four teams are certainly an interesting mix. Palm sees the top four dominated by the B1G and the SEC with two teams from each conference. Not only that, but the four teams come from the SEC West and the B1G East.

  • No. 2 – LSU
  • No. 3 – Alabama
  • No. 4 – Penn State

What is interesting is that those teams must play each other before the end of the season. LSU and Alabama play on Nov. 9 while Penn State and Ohio State play Nov. 23.

Palm predicted Oklahoma at No. 5 and Clemson at No. 6 as the first two out on the initial rankings. Wisconsin was the next B1G team ranked and checked in at No. 11. No other B1G squad cracked the Top 15.

How do you see the first top four shaking out when the initial CFP Rankings are released?
