Remember when No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Michigan and No. 4 Washington all lost yesterday?

Well, CBS Sports believes Clemson and Washington still make the College Football Playoff at the end of the year. Michigan on the other hand? Not so much.

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm projected the top-four teams matching up at the end of the year and has No. 1 Alabama facing off in what would be a College Football Playoff rematch against No. 4 Ohio State. As for the other semifinal, Palm projects No. 2 Clemson to play No. 3 Washington.

Again, this is a projection on the end of the season – not what the CFP committee will rank the teams this coming Tuesday.

“Also, while I have not had Michigan projected into the playoff at any point this season, Saturday’s loss did nothing to damage the Wolverines’ chances of proving me wrong,” Palm said. “They have controlled their own destiny for the Big Ten title all season and that is still true. If Michigan wins out to finish 12-1 and earns the Big Ten championship, the Wolverines will be in the College Football Playoff.”

So, where do Michigan, Wisconsin and Penn State all end up? Palm has all three teams playing in New Year’s Six bowl games, with Michigan facing Louisville in the Orange Bowl, Wisconsin playing Utah in the Rose Bowl and Penn State clashing with San Diego State in the Cotton Bowl.

And you thought you had it all figured out.
