Joel Klatt has long petitioned against the way things are run in college football. There are certain rules and guidelines he doesn’t quite agree with, and several aspects of the sport that he would change.

The FOX Sports analyst talks about each of the things he doesn’t like periodically throughout the college football season. But to make life easier on the fans, he decided to post all the changes he’d make in a single tweet.

And there are quite a few.

Sports Betting in Big Ten Country

There is big news coming to the upcoming 2022-23 Big Ten football season (and NFL season). Ohio online sports betting and Maryland sports betting are on the way.

Klatt tweeted out five changes he would make to college football to improve the game, if he was awarded the opportunity to be the sport’s “commissioner” for the day. Here’s what Klatt said he’d fix:

  • Get rid of divisions
  • Everyone plays the same number of league games
  • Win your conference to compete for national championship
  • Move ineligible downfield barrier to 1 yard instead of 3 yards
  • Give players their name and likeness back

The top three items on Klatt’s list are the things he’d like to see most changed. Since the start of the season, Klatt has argued that nine-game conference schedules are only hurting the B1G, Pac-12 and Big XII and that he’d like to see conference champions in the College Football Playoff.

Eliminating divisions seems like it might be a bit of a stretch, but B1G commissioner Jim Delany has said there have been conversations about scrapping the idea and having the league’s top two teams compete for a conference title.

Klatt’s ideas aren’t too far out there, but it would probably take some serious time to implement the changes. And whether or not they’d ever come is another conversation.

At the end of his tweet, Klatt gave folks the opportunity to chime in on what changes they would make. What do you believe should change in college football?
