The B1G is a virtual lock to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff. With three teams in the top six — two of which will battle for the B1G Championship — the conference will send at least one school to the College Football Playoff.

Tuesday’s poll solidified that.

Just like the Associated Press and Coaches polls, the College Football Playoff had Iowa at No. 4, Michigan State at No. 5 and Ohio State at No. 6. The B1G was the only conference to have three teams in the top six.

Not far behind was Northwestern at No. 14, a spot in which it earned after recording its second 10-win season in four years. Michigan fell to No. 15 following its 42-13 loss to Ohio State, which marked its worst spot in the CFP poll this year.

In all the B1G had five teams in the top 25, which was as much as any conference.
