Chicago Bears announce hiring of new head coach
The Chicago Bears cleaned house after the 2021 season and announced their new head coach Thursday evening.
After a 6-11 campaign, the Bears moved on from head coach Matt Nagy and GM Ryan Pace. The Bears first landed a new GM in Ryan Poles and announced the hiring of Matt Eberflus as the next head coach on Thursday.
We have hired Colts DC Matt Eberflus as our head coach.

Eberflus most recently served as the DC of the Indianapolis Colts from 2018-21 and brings with him a wealth of experience from the collegiate and NFL ranks.
“I would like to thank Ryan and the McCaskey family for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead the Chicago Bears, one of the most storied franchises in all of sports in one of the greatest cities in the world,” Eberflus said via press release. “I am truly humbled and honored to be named your head coach and together we will do everything in our power to bring a Super Bowl championship back to Chicago.”
Eberflus and Poles now face the task of rebuilding a team in need of talent on both sides of the ball. Finding ways to maximize Justin Fields’ talent should also be a key concern after the franchise traded up to acquire him in the 2021 NFL Draft.
