Rutgers head coach Chris Ash has spent a good chunk of time learning from some of the top coaches in the country. From 2010 through 2013, he worked under Bret Bielema at Wisconsin and Arkansas. In 2014 and 2015, he served as the defensive coordinator at Ohio state under Urban Meyer.

Ash said on Monday that he once had an opportunity to work for another coaching great.

When Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was at Stanford from 2007 to 2010, Ash told local media that he interviewed with the former NFL quarterback to fill a vacancy on the defensive staff.

Ash told NJ.com:

It’s the only time I’ve really had a conversation with him. But he’s a guy I’ve got a lot of respect for.
