Chris Beard — head coach of the Texas Longhorns basketball program — was reportedly arrested Monday morning on charges of assault against a family member.

According to multiple reports, Beard was arrested after Austin police responded to a “disturbance hot shot” around 12:15 am. Beard was later charged at 4 am Monday morning with a third-degree felony assault against a family member.

That charge reportedly includes impeding the breath circulation of a family member.

Beard took the Longhorns job prior to the 2021-22 season. Texas is off to a 7-1 start to the 2022-23 season and was No. 2 on the latest AP Poll.
