Chris Beard, Texas basketball head coach, reportedly arrested for assault on a family member

Chris Beard — head coach of the Texas Longhorns basketball program — was reportedly arrested Monday morning on charges of assault against a family member.
According to multiple reports, Beard was arrested after Austin police responded to a “disturbance hot shot” around 12:15 am. Beard was later charged at 4 am Monday morning with a third-degree felony assault against a family member.
That charge reportedly includes impeding the breath circulation of a family member.
Austin Police responded to a “disturbance hot shot,” per spokesperson, at 12:15 a.m. to the 1900 block of Vista Lane.
Beard was charged in the 4 a.m. hour.
Texas AD Chris Del Conte has not yet responded to CBS Sports’ request for comment.

Beard took the Longhorns job prior to the 2021-22 season. Texas is off to a 7-1 start to the 2022-23 season and was No. 2 on the latest AP Poll.
