Coaching carousel rumors: Big 12 coach reportedly expected to get contract extension this cycle
The coaching carousel never takes a day off, not even for Thanksgiving.
It has already been a busy week around the big with Penn State’s James Franklin and Michigan State’s Mel Tucker signing long-term extensions to stay in the B1G.
Another candidate mentioned in connection with other openings around the country is Dave Aranda. Aranda leads Baylor out of the Big 12 after taking over prior to the 2020 season, and it appears he is in line to get an extension of his own.
Per multiple reports, the Bears are putting together a revised contract package in the coming days to keep Aranda in Waco.
Source tells @YahooSports that Baylor plans to put together a contract extension for coach Dave Aranda in the upcoming weeks. Aranda has made clear — below and otherwise — that he plans to stay at Baylor in this coaching cycle. https://t.co/RH5TeCdYQq

Aranda’s name had been floated for multiple openings, especially out of the SEC with Florida and LSU. Aranda served as the DC at LSU from 2016-19.
