College basketball AP Top 25: Six Big Ten teams crack Week 6 poll
Six Big Ten programs cracked the latest AP Top 25 in college basketball this week: Purdue, Oregon, Michigan, UCLA, Wisconsin and Michigan State.
Purdue and Oregon lead the way, with Purdue coming in at No. 11 and Oregon just behind them at No. 12. The Ducks have been a surprise this season, sitting at 8-0 until falling to UCLA last night, 73-71.
Purdue, on the other hand, is not a surprise. We all knew the Boilermakers would only slightly drop off after the departure of Zach Edey, mostly thanks to star point guard Braden Smith. Purdue holds wins over Alabama and Maryland so far this season.
Dusty May and Michigan have started the season very well. The Wolverines started Big Ten play with a bang, downing Iowa and Wisconsin to avenge an early-season loss to Wake Forest. They’ll be tested again Tuesday night against Arkansas.
UCLA and Michigan State both hop into the poll after being unranked last week, thanks to UCLA’s win over Oregon and State’s win over North Carolina and Nebraska.
