College Football Playoff expansion: CFB commissioners given future NFL playoff dates to reference for expansion per report
College Football Playoff expansion rumors popped up again on Friday. The commissioners have reportedly been given a calendar of future NFL playoff dates, to work around per Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports.
The commissioners have all been given a copy of the NFL playoff dates for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The dates for the future NFL playoffs have not been made public yet, as the future Super Bowl dates and sites are the only ones that have been released. Along with those dates, the commissioners were also given a 365-day overview of the sports calendar.
The commissioners apparently have a copy of the 2024 and 2025 NFL playoff dates to maneuver around. That would be news because those aren’t public yet. Only the Super Bowl sites and dates through 2025.

A draft copy of college football’s holistic 365-day overview of the sports calendar has been distributed. It will have to be considered too in expansion. By the way, still two signing days.

What this could mean in the long run is that camps would move up to avoid overlapping with any of the dates. Dodd states that this would require NCAA legislation, and could cause problems for the second summer school session.
It’s all about the calendar, for starters, @CFBPlayoff expansion. Moving the season up a week would mean camps would have to start earlier which might require NCAA legislation. Moving camps up could interfere with the second summer school session.

It was reported that the expansion is expected to start in 2026, but could be happening a lot sooner than people think, if this is all true.
