College Football Playoff expansion: Dan Patrick reports details and timing regarding December vote
For the past few years, expanding the College Football Playoff has been the talk of the college football world because it has seemed more of an invitational than a true playoff to some.
According to Dan Patrick, the College Football Playoff is for sure moving to a 12 team playoff; the date on when though is not set in stone.

“The 12-team Playoff is a go,” said Patrick. “They want to get it done for the 2023 season…if it’s not approved next month, the Playoff going to 12 teams will not be a go until 2025.”
When asked if the College Football Playoff is for sure moving to 12 teams, here was Patrick’s response:
“Yes,” said Patrick when asked if it is going to 12 teams regardless. “Yes. If not 2023, then 2025.”
CORRECTION: The Vote in December for a 12-team College Football Playoff expansion would go into effect in 2023. NOT NEXT SEASON. If it’s not approved in December then it wouldn’t be a go until 2025. #CFBPlayoff https://t.co/WGvJ67xtoC pic.twitter.com/Nm7c9iqlrW

This is excellent news for all college football fans who were tired of the committee picking between the 4 best teams and seemingly no real criteria to base their rankings. It will be interesting to see if the vote for expansion does indeed go through in December.
