College Football Playoff Rankings: 4 B1G teams land in first Top 25

College Football Playoff Rankings are out for the first time in the 2022 season! Now, teams and fans have a better idea of how the CFP Committee views each competitor heading into the action of Week 10.
Already, fans know these rankings will shift with some of the teams in the top 10 set to face each other down the stretch of the season. That group includes a major SEC East matchup between Tennessee and Georgia this weekend.
In the B1G, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Michigan remain the biggest national title contenders in the conference. Seeing how the Committee views each team in the initial rankings is noteworthy and could shed further light on whether or not the B1G has a realistic shot at 2 teams in the final CFP field.
No. 16 Illinois — a surprise 7-1 team and leader in the B1G West — is also of note. While few would expect the Illini to run the table and pull off a B1G Championship upset over the B1G West, it will be interesting to see how the Committee views Bret Bielema’s squad.
Without further ado, here are the first CFP Rankings for the 2022 season:
