There was bound to be at least one shakeup on this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings.

Coming out of Week 12, one of the biggest stories over the weekend was Minnesota’s road loss to Iowa. Kinnick Stadium claimed another victim as the No. 8 ranked and undefeated Gophers squad fell in a tight finish. Meanwhile, No. 10 Oklahoma erased a huge deficit on the road against Baylor in a comeback win.

Ahead of Minnesota, the top seven teams on the rankings won in Week 12. Unfortunately, Alabama lost star QB Tua Tagovailoa to a devastating hip injury. That injury alone should not impact Alabama’s ranking, but it is noteworthy as the team is undoubtedly better with him under center. However, it remains a long shot for the Crimson Tide to even make the SEC Championship after the loss to LSU.

Penn State, at No. 9 entering the weekend, held off Indiana for a win. That preserves a top-10 matchup with Ohio State this week, providing an opportunity for both teams to make a big statement to the CFP Committee.
