College football rankings are getting updated as we head toward the Week 7 slate of the season. With the calendar turning to the middle point of the season, true contenders are beginning to separate from the pack.

Pro Football Focus released its updated top 25 recently and 5 B1G programs were included. At the top was an unsurprising choice in Ohio State.

Here is what Max Chadwick with PFF had to say about the Buckeyes:

The Buckeyes just hung 49 points on Michigan State. What makes that even more impressive is the fact that they did it without last season’s highest-graded Power Five receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and the nation’s highest-graded running back this year, Miyan Williams.

A depleted Ohio State offense still looks unstoppable. The thought of how the unit would look fully healthy is the reason they’re my pick to win the national championship.

Here are the B1G teams listed in the top 25:

  • 1. Ohio State
  • 6. Michigan
  • 9. Penn State
  • 17. Illinois
  • 22. Minnesota
