Alabama leads the pack followed by Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson and Notre Dame. The Crimson Tide received 54 of 63 first-place votes (1,566 points). The Buckeyes finished with 6first-place votes (1,506 points). Georgia, the defending national champions, received three first-place votes (1,455 points).

The Buckeyes have essentially been the flagship of the B1G over the last decade or more. Ohio State will look to re-stake its claim on that moniker after falling short of the B1G title and the College Football Playoff last season. The Buckeyes return with one of the best offenses in the country led by Heisman Trophy hopeful CJ Stroud at quarterback.

Michigan, the reigning conference champions, checked in at No.8 in the poll. Michigan State and Wisconsin are the only other B1G teams in the top 25. Five other teams (Iowa/Penn State/Minnesota/Purdue/Nebraska) received votes.
