College football rankings: How simulated BCS compares to latest CFP Top 25
The BCS era of college football ended in 2014 with the Florida Seminoles being crowned national champions.
However, the formula used by the BCS is still popular and favored by some. BCSKnowHow.com remains an active Twitter account, comparing the weekly College Football Playoff rankings to what the BCS rankings would be.
For example, the BCS formula disagreed with the CFP committee on Tennessee being No. 1 in Week 10. For the 2nd edition of the CFP rankings, things are much more similar, with the top 9 being identical in both systems.
Here’s this week’s side-by-side comparison between the just-released @CFBPlayoff committee rankings and our simulated #BCS. Identical top-9s and just one pair of flip-flopped teams in the top 12: pic.twitter.com/qKK2vV5JqT

The 1st difference in the rankings comes at No. 10, with the BCS formula having Ole Miss at No. 10 and Clemson at No. 11, while the CFP committee went the opposite.
Here is how the B1G teams’ rankings compare:

- BCS – No. 2
Michigan
- CFP –No. 3
- BCS – No. 3
Penn State
- CFP – No. 14
