College football rankings: Super 16 preseason poll for 2022 features 3 B1G teams

It’s August, and the college football world has preseason rankings fever. The Football Writers Association of America and the National Football Foundation released its Super 16 preseason poll on Tuesday.
A trio of Big Ten programs made the poll. Ohio State is No. 2 in the poll voting with 6 first-place votes and 56 points behind Alabama. Defending B1G champ Michigan checks in at No. 5 while Michigan State is No. 15. Wisconsin, Penn State, Nebraska and Iowa also received votes.

In the 2022 preseason poll, the Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC had 3 teams each. It’s the first time Power 5 conferences had equal representation for the first time in the history of the poll which started in 2014.
The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by the 2 long-time partners. Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2022 season. The poll boasts a balanced-geographical perspective of pollsters, made up of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers.
