College football win totals: Notable betting trends with 6 B1G teams

College football betting markets never sleep.

In the offseason, it’s all about futures bets. Win totals, with an over/under set by oddsmakers at various sportsbooks, help set the expectations that drive talking season discussions among fans and media members.

On Wednesday, BetMGM shared betting data with Saturday Tradition showing some notable trends in CFB win totals.

Here are the current win total over/unders at BetMGM for every B1G team:

Ohio State and Oregon both opened at over/under 10.5 wins at BetMGM, and have the same odds as of Aug. 7. Other B1G teams, though, have experienced some notable movement.

Iowa and Minnesota are among the CFB teams that have seen their totals increase as the season gets closer.

Iowa over 7.5 wins was priced at -175 at BetMGM, meaning a wager of $175 and 8 wins or more were initially needed to win $100 for a payout of $275. Over 8.5 is now priced at +150, meaning a $100 wager and 9 Hawkeye victories would win $150 for a $250 payout.

Minnesota over 4.5 wins was priced at -150 by BetMGM. Over 5.5 Gopher victories is now priced at -105.

UCLA and Maryland are among the teams that have seen their win totals decrease since BetMGM set opening odds.

Michigan enters the season as the defending national champion after a perfect 15-0 season, but bettors are expecting the Wolverines to take a step back in 2024.

U-M is one of the most bet “under” teams, in both tickets and handle. BetMGM has Michigan under 9 wins priced at -140. The under on the Wolverines has 53% of the tickets for 61% of the handle.
