College football world reacts as Iowa-Northwestern produces scoreless first half at Wrigley Field

The Week 10 game between Iowa and Northwestern was always going to be a challenging one. The two sides are facing off in Wrigley Field, home of MLB’s Chicago Cubs, but the two offenses have been brutally inefficient throughout the first half.

Overall, Deacon Hill and Brendan Sullivan combined to go 10-for-18 throwing the ball with just 40 yards and an interception. The two teams have 11 total first downs and have gone 3-for-14 on third down.

If those numbers do not provide enough of a picture, Northwestern has 29 total yards of offense at the break and is averaging 0.9 yards per carry. Iowa has not been much better with 56 rushing yards and 2.3 yards per carry.

The numbers speak for themselves, and it’s hard to believe these are two Power 5 football teams squaring off. At this point, the only hope of scoring could be a major special teams play or dynamic defense takeaway.
