It’s an entirely new world when it comes to college football recruiting. With the creation of the transfer portal in recent years, it’s not just finding prospects at the high school level that is important.

Some schools and coaches have started to lean heavily on recruiting through the transfer portal. Others still place a major emphasis on hitting the high school ranks hard. It’s become a really interesting thing to watch unfold in recent years.

As we hit April, 247Sports went through the scores from the 2022 high school recruiting rankings and also looked into the transfer portal rankings, combining the two for a more comprehensive score.

Here’s what the Top 10 looked like:

  1. Texas A&M Aggies
  2. Alabama Crimson Tide
  3. Georgia Bulldogs
  4. Ohio State Buckeyes
  5. Texas Longhorns
  6. LSU Tigers
  7. Penn State Nittany Lions
  8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  9. Oklahoma Sooners
  10. USC Trojans

Only two B1G teams — Ohio State and Penn State — were included in this Top 10. The SEC dominated the list, with Texas A&M, Alabama and Georgia occupying the Top 3 spots, as well as LSU coming in at No. 6.

Traditional powers Texas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and USC have also done a great job in both areas.
