Damar Hamlin releases statement following hospital discharge
Damar Hamlin was released from the hospital Monday afternoon, giving fans hope after one of the scariest moments in sports last week.
Hamlin, who collapsed on the field in last week’s Bills-Bengals game, has made a remarkable recovery and is now headed home.
He took to Twitter to give his thanks for the overwhelming support he received in the past week.
“Headed home to Buffalo today with a lot of love on my heart,” he said in the statement. “Watching the world come together around me on Sunday was truly an amazing feeling. The same love you all have shown me is the same love that I plan to put back into the world n more. Bigger than football!”
Hamlin, a 24-year-old who is in his second year in the NFL, received support from teammates, fans, media and more over the past week. His charity, which is a toy drive, received over $8 million in donations this week. It is safe to say Hamlin’s story will be remembered for a long time.
