Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks went to the Big House last weekend and took care of business in a 38-17 win against Michigan.

The score was 31-17 Ducks with 25 seconds remaining in the game, and normally a team would just kneel the ball out. However, Lanning and the Ducks kept playing, and running back Jordan James scored a 2-yard touchdown.

During his weekly press conference, Lanning talked about the mindset to go get the points:

“Ultimately, they had a timeout,” Lanning said. “If they utilize the timeout, there’s the opportunity for them to stop it. You’re trying to assess are they going to be in position to use one or not, and obviously looking back at it, it’s easy to say okay they probably weren’t going to use one, they were just going to let the clock tick out. At some point that could happen to us as well. I’m never going to be ashamed of us going for a touchdown, it’s our job to stop them.”

Lanning did make sure to say that he has a ton of respect for Sherrone Moore and what he is doing at Michigan.

“I’ve got a ton of respect for Coach Moore and the job he’s done,” Lanning said. “He’s been amazing every time I’ve had a chance to interact with him. You could feel bad but as a competitor you want to go out there to do your best to score. I’m sure there are certainly some Oregon fans who were excited we did, too.”

The Ducks look to move to 10-0 as they host the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday.
