Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks will be starting what they hope is a long run in the College Football Playoff when they take on Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.

The Ducks were the only team to be undefeated entering the CFP, but they have arguably the toughest path to the national championship. That has been a talking point ever since the bracket was made, but Lanning has been very consistent that he is excited about the opportunity.

“Super excited, getting an opportunity to play great teams is what it’s about,” Lanning said. “This part of the year, when you play great teams, that gives you some extra motivation to go work really hard and be prepared and be ready to be out there on the field. Ohio State is a great team. The path to the end is tough, which is exciting for our team and certainly for me.”

The matchup against Ohio State is a rematch of 1 of the very best games from the season that the Ducks won 32-31. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel went 23-of-34 for 341 yards and 3 total touchdowns in a game that played a huge role in him ending up a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Kickoff for this game will be at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT on New Year’s Day, and the game will be on ESPN.
