Dan Lanning takes responsibility for Oregon's poor play vs. Ohio State
Dan Lanning met with reporters in Pasadena in the aftermath of Oregon’s 41-21 loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday night.
Oregon, who entered the game with a sterling 13-0 record, was never competitive against the Buckeyes. Ohio State jumped out to a 34-0 lead before the Ducks tacked on a touchdown before the end of the first half.
Oregon would go on to score a couple more times in the second half, but was never able to make a serious run at catching Ohio State on the scoreboard.
After the game, Lanning took responsibility for Oregon’s poor performance.
“They clicked tonight, we didn’t,” Lanning said. “I didn’t get our team prepared.”

It’s a crushing loss for Oregon, who was amongst the favorites to win the national championship this season after going undefeated en route to the Big Ten Championship. Now, its season is over after getting out-gained by 224 yards against Ohio State.
Oregon averaged a measly 3.9 yards per play in the loss while allowing Ohio State to gain 8.8 yards a snap.
“We ran into a great team tonight,” Lanning said, “And we just didn’t play our best.
“I just don’t think we had a good enough plan as coaches tonight.”
