Dan Lanning and Oregon moved to 10-0 over the weekend with a big win over Maryland. However, the status of two key players came into question with running back Jordan James limited and star defensive end Jordan Burch leaving the game in the second half.

Though James was never officially ruled out of the game, he recorded just 9 total offensive touches and 7 carries for 29 yards. That was a new season-low for touches and rushing yards for James as Noah Whittington delivered the bulk of the carries.

Meanwhile, Burch shined in a complete performance before leaving in the second half. He registered a 36-yard carry on a fake punt and a strip sack, his first since returning from a mid-season injury, and 2 pass breakups.

At his Monday press conference, Lanning said the team will take some stuff of them early in the week. He did say he anticipates that the Ducks will be able to see both players in Week 12.

“Continue to evaluate, get those guys back,” said Lanning. “Right now, early in the week, we’ll take a lot off of them and then see, you know, how they feel, but, you know, I anticipate that we should be able to see them.”

There’s no overstating the importance of both players to Oregon’s performance. James leads the team with 946 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns and is 2nd in the Big Ten in rushing yards.

Burch was among the B1G leaders in sacks before his injury and is still 6th in the conference and 2nd on the Ducks with 6 sacks. Accounting for missed time, Burch’s 0.86 sacks per game would rank 3rd in the B1G.
