A few college football games are already in the books, but none of those outcomes have affected Danny Kanell’s College Football Playoff picks.
Friday, Kanell gave his prediction for the CFP on his podcast Off The Bench, giving us all one final “preseason” pick before the full slate of college football games opens on Saturday.
2018 Playoff prediction:
1. Clemson
2. Auburn
3. Ohio St
4. USCClemson over Auburn in natty.
You’re welcome.

Kanell picked Auburn, Clemson, Ohio State and USC to make the four-team field at the end of the year. Here’s what the college football analyst had to say about putting the Buckeyes in the Playoff, despite all the distractions in Columbus:
“The Ohio State pick, I think all of this distraction could possibly galvanize the team. I don’t think it’s going to impact them that much not having Urban Meyer those first three weeks. You’ve got to remember, he also is able to participate in practice after that first week. He’s still going to game plan. They’ve got a ton of offensive coaches and head coaches on that staff where I don’t think it impacts them too much.”
Ohio State is still a popular pick to reach the College Football Playoff, especially with the amount of talent on the roster. So Kanell picking the Buckeyes isn’t an off-the-wall prediction.
Kanell also said that he wouldn’t be surprised if the SEC got two teams in the CFP again this season, particularly Alabama and Auburn with such tough schedules.
