Deion Sanders made headlines on Tuesday afternoon for walking out of SWAC Media Days after a reporter called him by his first name.
Sanders has since shared the video of the encounter, which took place over Zoom:
This is how all of this started, I really Pray for all of us because this was something so minimal that was hilarious to me that you allowed a FOOLISH media outlet and person to play on your Preconceived notions. Sanders took exception to the reporter calling him by his first name.
“You know if you call Nick, ‘Nick,’ you’d get cussed out on the spot. So don’t do that, treat me like Nick.”
Sanders then walked out of the interview, effectively ending his time at SWAC Media Days.
Notably, Alabama coach Nick Saban conducted his SEC Media Day interview on Wednesday morning. According to reporters who were there, Saban was called “Nick” eight different times during the press conference.
