Roster cuts are a part of NFL preseason, and the latest moves by the Denver Broncos have a pair of former Big Ten stars looking for new opportunities.

Former Wisconsin LB Joe Schobert was released just over a week after signing with the team. After earning first-team All-American and All-Big Ten recognition as the conference linebacker of the year, Schobert has been in the NFL since 2016.

The Cleveland Browns selected Schobert with pick No. 99 in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Schobert was the NFL’s co-leader in tackles in 2017 and made the Pro Bowl. Schobert remained with the Browns through the 2019 season.

In 2020, Schobert signed a 5-year, $53.75 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. After 1 season in Jacksonville, Schobert was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Aug. 14, 2021. The Steelers released Schobert on March 17, 2022.

Former Indiana RB Stevie Scott II was waived. Scott’s professional career began in 2021. As an undrafted free agent, the New Orleans Saints signed Scott. After not making an appearance for the Saints, Scott played for the Michigan Panthers of the USFL this season, rushing 99 times for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns.
