College football may have crowned its champion on the field on Monday night, but according to ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) LSU isn’t the best team in the country.

Following LSU’s 42-25 victory over Clemson in New Orleans on Monday night, ESPN updated it FPI rankings one final time for the 2019 season. Neither LSU nor Clemson was sitting at the top.

Ohio State finished as the No. 1 team in the FPI rankings, one of six B1G teams to be ranked inside the top 20 at the end of the year. Two other conference teams — Penn State and Wisconsin — were inside the top 10.

Here’s a look at the final top 5 in ESPN’s FPI, as well as where each B1G team ranked:

  • No. 1: Ohio State
  • No. 2: Clemson
  • No. 3: LSU
  • No. 4: Alabama
  • No. 5: Georgia
  • No. 7: Penn State
  • No. 8: Wisconsin
  • No. 12: Michigan
  • No. 15: Iowa
  • No. 18: Minnesota

As always, the FPI has some pretty interesting rankings to close out the season. Folks probably won’t put too much stock into it considering LSU dominated the two games in the College Football Playoff, and proved to be the top team in the sport this season.
