Dick Vitale receives standing ovation while being honored at SEC Tournament
This has been a difficult college basketball season for Dick Vitale. The legendary hoops commentator at to step away from the game he loves to focus on his health while he battled cancer.
After undergoing chemotherapy treatments and surgery, Vitale tweeted out that PET scans revealed he is cancer free. It was a long, difficult battle for the beloved hoops ambassador.
On Saturday, Vitale was honored during the semifinal round during the SEC Tournament. He received a standing ovation from the crowd on hand at Amalie Arena in Tampa.

Vitale certainly deserves the honor and the ovation. His name has become synonymous with college basketball over the years and it’s great to see him back watching the game he loves.
Hopefully Dickie V. will be back behind the microphone next season.
