Dillon Gabriel accepts invite to NFL showcase game following Playoff run
Dillon Gabriel, who has had a historic season as the quarterback of unbeaten, top-seeded Oregon, has accepted an invitation to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Feb. 1 in Mobile, Ala.
Gabriel, the left-handed Hawaiian who ranks among the all-time leaders in major college football in career passing yards and touchdown passes, is the 3rd quarterback to be confirmed for the NFL Draft showcase game. He joins Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard and Louisville’s Tyler Shough.

The 6th-year senior was named a Heisman Trophy finalist on Monday, along with Colorado’s Travis Hunter, Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty and Miami’s Cam Ward. The award will be presented on Saturday night. The Heisman is 1 of many awards that Gabriel is in line for after putting up insane numbers for the high-powered Oregon offense this fall.
Gabriel was named the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for a whopping 3,558 yards and 28 touchdowns with just 6 interceptions. He helped lead the 13-0 Ducks to a Big Ten championship, as Oregon outlasted Penn State last Saturday night, and the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.
Gabriel, who has completed 73.2% of his passes this season going into the Playoff, has also rushed for 192 yards and 7 touchdowns this season. He spent 3 seasons at UCF and 2 more years at Oklahoma before transferring to Oregon this past offseason.
All things considered, Gabriel is not among the top QB prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, but he does have legitimate experience and a potent deep ball. We’ll find out if Gabriel can begin building his case for the next level in Mobile once the Playoff run wraps up.
