Drake Maye has been caught up in some rumors for the last few weeks regarding him transferring for NIL money. On Friday, the North Carolina quarterback put the rumors to rest.

Maye emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the country this season and when the end of the season rolled around, many thought he would transfer out. Maye has made it clear he is sticking with North Carolina, but the rumors about him being offered NIL money to transfer surfaced shortly after.

Many of the rumors were sparked by Pitt HC Patt Narduzzi, who claimed that two ACC schools offered him millions to transfer.

“Those rumors weren’t really reality,” he told ESPN’s Pete Thamel. “Pitt’s coach ended up putting that out there. I don’t know what that was about. You have to enter the transfer portal to talk to these schools and hear these offers. For me, I think college football is going to turn into a mess. They’re going to have to do something. There was nothing to me or my family directly offered from any of these other schools. Nothing was said or offered to the Mayes.”

With the rumors now to rest, Maye looks to continue his successful career with UNC. The Tarheels will face Oregon in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28.
