It looks like fans of the NCAA football video game franchise will have to wait a little while longer for the newest addition. EA Sports announced that it’s moving up the release date for its newest game.

EA Sports is pushing back the target date for the game to the summer of 2024. The company’s VP and GM Daryl Holt told the news to ESPN’s Mike Rothstein. The last game of the series was “NCAA Football 14” which came out in 2013.

Before the announcement the deadline was supposed to be the summer of 2023. The game series was forced to stop production after a lawsuit was filed against EA Sports for using player’s names, images, and likenesses without compensation.

Since the lawsuit football fans have only had the “Madden” franchise to play when it comes to a football video game.

Here’s Holt’s explanation for why the company decided to move the date back:

“That’s the best date for us to bring the game that we think is going to meet or exceed our player expectations,” Holt said. “And cover the breadth and scale of what we want in the game. We’re trying to build a very immersive college football experience.”

If what Holt says is true, then fans should be getting a solid college football gaming experience.
