One of the biggest stars in college football might have just closed the book on his college career.

Houston defensive end Ed Oliver has missed the last three games with a bruised right knee, an injury he sustained against Navy on Oct. 20. The star lineman was ruled out again for Thursday’s matchup with Tulane, according to head coach Major Applewhite.

But Oliver could be shutting it down for the remainder of the season, focusing his attention on the NFL Draft. Wednesday afternoon, Oliver sent out a cryptic tweet that appears to hint at the end of his collegiate career.

“I gave all I had so there’d be nuthing to lose,” Oliver wrote on Twitter.

Oliver is considered to be a top five pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and is one of the top prospects according to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay. Earlier in the year, the defensive end was considered a potential Heisman Trophy candidate.

This season, Oliver has registered 51 tackles, 13.5 of which were for loss. He also tallied three sacks and nine quarterback hurries. He’s played in just seven games.

In his career with the Cougars, Oliver recorded 190 tackles, 52.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks. He also forced six fumbles in three seasons.

Houston is 7-3 this season.
