Week 12 of the college football season didn’t make much of an impact on the rankings from the writers at ESPN of their top four teams in the College Football Playoffs picture.

There isn’t much of a difference from last week, with a couple exceptions.

Alabama maintained the top spot across the board, easily disposing of Kentucky, 63-3 – no surprise.

Ohio State held off No. 9 Indiana after building a 28-point lead, to win 42-35. While the Hoosiers put up a valiant fight it wasn’t enough to move the Buckeyes from their spots from last week. It was Ohio State’s 19th straight B1G win.

Both David M. Hale and Mark Schlabach flipped Ohio State and Clemson in their pickles, moving the Buckeyes to No. 4 and moving the Tigers up to No. 3.

Notre Dame and Clemson didn’t play on Saturday, with the Irish having their bye week and the Tigers having their game with Florida State cancelled due to COVID-19 issues.

Cincinnati and BYU are the others to get a nod from the writers, with Bill Donnelly listing the Bearcats in his No. 4 spot – Cincy held off Central Florida for a 36-33 win. Ryan McGee gave the Cougars his fourth slot after their 66-14 win over North Alabama.
