ESPN College GameDay’s Week 9 guest picker announces selection on Twitter
ESPN’s College GameDay is headed to a special rivalry in Week 9.
Though GameDay traditionally hits up big-time FBS rivalries, this week they will be heading to an FCS showdown. The crew is headed to Brookings, South Dakota for what is known as the Dakota Marker game between South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
It is bound to be an interesting show, and there will certainly be an interesting guest picker on hand. Pat McAfee, long-time punter for the Indianapolis Colts, will be there with the crew.
He shared the announcement in a video on Twitter:
Beyond honored to get the call to be a part of the greatest @CollegeGameDay environment in the history of the show tomorrow with the fine folks from @GoJacksSDSU
Real life bucket list stuff.
Let’s. GOOOOOO. pic.twitter.com/XWmLGaS3Eq

On the surface, the selection is a bit odd. McAfee is from Pennsylvania, played college football at West Virginia, and played his NFL career with the Colts. His strongest connection to the rivalry is with former teammate and co-specialist Adam Vinatieri.
Vinatieri attended SDSU and was a teammate of McAfee’s with the Colts. That may mean something special is still in the works for Saturday morning, but fans will just have to tune in to find out.
