ESPN FPI rankings: Ohio State loses grip on top spot, 6 B1G teams in Top 25
Ohio State no longer sits atop ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) rankings. This week, the Buckeyes were jumped by Alabama, who now owns the No. 1 spot following the latest weekend in college football.
The Buckeyes are still undefeated but defeated Rutgers 49-27, failing to cover the massive 38-point spread set by Vegas. Ohio State is one of two B1G teams still ranked in the Top 4, along with Wisconsin who comes in at No. 4.
But the Badgers haven’t played since Week 1, having to cancel games against Nebraska and Purdue due to COVID-19 concerns.
Four other B1G teams are still in the Top 25 this week, though you’d likely be surprised by the names. Indiana is at No. 16 after a 3-0 start and Northwestern comes in at No. 19, also 3-0 this season. But Penn State (0-3) and Iowa (1-2) are sitting at No. 20 and No. 21 respectively, despite sluggish starts to the season.
