In a year that B1G defenses have been dominant, it’s fitting that the midseason All-American list would reflect that.

ESPN released its midseason All-American team on Tuesday, and it was filled with B1G defensive talent. The B1G had four defensive selections, which was tied with the SEC for the most players on that side of the ball.

In all, the B1G had six selections on this list. Here’s what ESPN had to say about each of them:

Taylor Decker, Ohio State OT
Another durable veteran and leader, no matter who the quarterback is.

Dan Feeney, Indiana OG
Linchpin of the most efficient, effective offense in the Big Ten.

Carl Nassib, Penn State DE
Leads FBS in sacks (11.5) and tackles for loss (16.5)

Joe Schobert, Wisconsin LB
Judging by his tackles and sacks, he spends a lot of time behind the line of scrimmage.

Jourdan Lewis, Michigan CB
Lockdown corner on a suffocating defense.

Vonn Bell, Ohio St. S
Defensive backfield sheriff who scored a TD (fumble) in the Hawaii game, which is more than you can say for Hawaii.

All six selections more more than worthy, but it was interesting to see a few of the names left off the list, most notably from the unbeaten Hawkeyes.

Desmond King leads all Power Five schools in interception and was left off, though it’s hard to argue against Lewis and Vernon Hargreaves. Iowa offensive linemen Jordan Walsh and Austin Blythe paved the way for a pair of 200-yard “backup” tailbacks, yet they were left off the list.

Some would also argue that Ohio State’s Pat Elflein was worthy at one of the guard positions. Perhaps the only other surprise was that unbeaten Michigan State didn’t have a single representative on the list. Shilique Calhoun would probably be the most deserving, but defensive end is a loaded position.

Who else in the B1G got snubbed?
