ESPN releases final power rankings of 2020 season, 4 B1G teams make top-25
ESPN has released its final power rankings for the 2020 college football season.
Four Big Ten teams made the top-25, including national runner-up Ohio State and Big Ten West champion Northwestern.
Here’s who made the top 25 from the Big Ten:
- No. 2 Ohio State
- No. 10 Northwestern
- No. 15 Iowa
- No. 16 Indiana
Only four teams in the conference won at least five games this season, so there aren’t any obvious snubs. Penn State likely would have been next up for inclusion following a four-game winning streak to end the season. Wisconsin finished 4-3 thanks to a bowl win over Wake Forest.
Iowa started off 0-2 but Kirk Ferentz pulled off a brilliant recovery to win their final six games of the season. If not for those early losses (by a combined five points), it would have been Iowa in the Big Ten Championship instead of Northwestern.
Indiana was one of the most remarkable stories of the entire college football season. The Hoosiers only lost one regular season game, a 7-point loss at the hands of the Buckeyes.
All four of these programs have a lot of momentum heading into 2021.
