ESPN releases updated SP+ after Week 6, including 7 B1G teams in top 25
We have Week 6 in the books now for the college football season, and the top 25 rankings are certainly due for a shakeup with the toppling over No. 1 Alabama at the hands of unranked Texas A&M.
But this week’s SP+ top 25 rankings from ESPN’s Bill Connelly includes 7 B1G teams.
Ohio State tops the league teams on the list, coming in at No. 3, with Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan sitting in the top 10. The rankings take into consideration overall efficiency and productivity, and are typically greatly different from the poll results.
Only three undefeated teams are in the top 10, with Georgia, Michigan and Oklahoma falling into that category. Michigan State and Iowa both remain unbeaten, but find themselves lower in the SP+ rating.
Here are the B1G teams that are included in the top 25:
- 3. Ohio State
- 6. Penn State
- 7. Wisconsin
- 8. Michigan
- 15. Michigan St.
- 16. Iowa
- 24. Nebraska
Outside the top 25, but still in the top 50 are Maryland (No. 32) and Minnesota (No. 38).
