There’s still a lot of time left in the college football season. But as we hit the second half of the year, our sights are starting to lock in to potential College Football Playoff matchups.

This week, ESPN recently used its College Football Playoff predictor in an effort to see which 4-team combinations would be most likely at the end of the year. Six of those combinations include a B1G team — either Ohio State or Michigan.

However, the most-likely scenario actually has the B1G on the outside looking in. Here’s a look at the seven combinations that are most-likely to occur at the end of the season:

  1. Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia, Oklahoma (10%)
  2. Cincinnati, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma (7%)
  3. Cincinnati, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma (7%)
  4. Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma (6%)
  5. Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia, Ohio State (6%)
  6. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma (6%)
  7. Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia, Michigan (5%)

It is interesting that there’s no mention of Penn State, Iowa or Michigan State in these potential scenarios. It’s also intriguing that multiple of these combinations include Cincinnati out of the AAC.

There’s still over a month to play, so this could change pretty drastically. But this is what the scenarios look like as we close down the month of October.
