ESPN’s FPI lists odds for B1G’s remaining undefeated teams to run the table

It is never easy to finish a season undefeated. However, a number of B1G teams remain without a loss and will try to carry that unblemished record as long as possible.
Few fans or analysts could have predicted the start for a number of teams in the conference. Michigan State is 5-0 after going 2-5 in the shortened 2020 season while Penn State is 5-0 after beginning 2020 0-5.
Entering Week 6, the B1G has 4 remaining undefeated teams in the aforementioned Michigan State and Penn State, along with Iowa and Michigan. The Spartans, Nittany Lions, and Wolverines have yet to face each other in the B1G East while Iowa and Penn State will face each this weekend. But which of these teams has the best shot at putting together an undefeated season?
According to ESPN’s FPI, Iowa and Michigan are the two teams most likely to finish undefeated with odds just north of 4%. Iowa’s odds are a bit more understandable given the state of the B1G West.
If the Hawkeyes get past Penn State, the toughest remaining games on Iowa’s schedule would likely be at Wisconsin and at Nebraska, teams currently unranked. Michigan travels to face Nebraska this weekend and must still play at Michigan State, at Penn State, and vs. Ohio State.
Here are the odds for the 4 remaining undefeated teams to win out:
- Iowa – 4.3%
- Michigan – 4.1%
- Penn State – 0.7%
- Michigan State – 0.4%
