ESPN’s FPI is predicting the 2022 college football season, including the 2022 College Football Playoff champions.

In terms of the Playoff, the Football Power Index is especially high on Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia and Clemson. Those four teams have the best odds to make the CFP and are the only teams given more than a 19% chance to make the field of four.

It comes as no surprise that those four teams are also given the best odds to come away as the national champs in 2022. Every team in that group is given at least a 10% chance of winning the championship.

Outside of that group, no other team is given more than a 2% chance of winning the national championship. Only seven teams total are given above a 1% chance at the championship

Here is how the FPI sees the race for the national championship entering 2022:

  • Alabama – 30%
  • Ohio State – 27.5%
  • Georgia – 24.2%
  • Clemson – 10%
  • Notre Dame – 2%
  • Texas – 1.9%
  • Michigan – 1.6%

In terms of the B1G, the FPI has Ohio State as the overwhelming favorite to win the conference after Michigan claimed the title in 2021.
