ESPN’s FPI is back with the system’s power rankings and predictions for the 2023 season! Despite back-to-back league titles, Michigan enters the fall as a slight underdog in the B1G race once again.

The latest Big Ten Championship odds have Ohio State as a slight favorite to regain the B1G this fall. Michigan is right behind with Penn State, Wisconsin and Iowa trailing those two rivals.

However, ESPN’s Football Power Index is predicting a large edge for Ryan Day’s Buckeyes entering the season. According to the FPI, Ohio State is given a nearly 70% shot at winning the B1G. No other program is close to 20% on the system.

After Ohio State, Michigan has the next best odds to win the conference at 15.3 with the rest of the league under 10%. The only other programs given a realistic shot by the FPI to win the conference are Wisconsin (6.1%) and Penn State (5%). No one else in the league is given a 2% shot to win the B1G.

As for the B1G East, the Buckeyes lead the way with a 74.4% chance to win the division at Michigan at 18.5%. Penn State at 6.6% is the only other team in the division to receive odds above 1%.

The FPI once again predicts the B1G West to be a much tighter race than the East. Wisconsin is the favorite at 47.6% odds, but Iowa (19.8%), Illinois (12.4%) and Minnesota (11.9%) also have odds above 10% in the West.
