ESPN’s FPI has predicted the race to Indianapolis for 2022, and the Football Power Index has updated the odds for the B1G Championship in 2022.

Following the Week 2 results, the FPI stills sees a two-team race for the conference with a heavy favorite. The heavy favorite would be Ryan Day’s Ohio State squad who is given greater than a 60% chance of the B1G title.

The other team with more than a 10% chance to win the B1G this season is Michigan. The Wolverines are still slotted well behind the Buckeyes, but it will be interesting to see how those results hold up with JJ McCarthy in line to be Michigan’s starting QB moving forward.

In the B1G West, Minnesota is the first team mentioned but the Gophers are given less than a 7% chance of winning the conference this season.

Here is how the FPI is predicting the B1G Championship at this point:

  • Ohio State – 62.7%
  • Michigan – 12.8%
  • Minnesota – 6.9%
  • Penn State – 5.2%
  • Purdue – 4.3%
  • Michigan State – 4%
  • Wisconsin – 3%

We’ll see how those results look coming out of Week 3. Conference play has not heated up quite yet, but Penn State, Michigan State, Purdue and Minnesota will all face Power 5 foes in the week ahead.

Down the road, Wisconsin and Ohio State will play a key crossover game before we leave the month of September behind.
