ESPN’s FPI has some predictions for who will win the B1G East division. Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State are still undefeated after Week 6.
After those three, Maryland is in fourth in the standings with a 4-2 record. The Terps are followed by Indiana (3-3), Rutgers (3-3), and Michigan State (2-4).
Ohio State continues to dominate teams down the stretch. The Buckeyes beat Michigan State 49-20. Michigan beat Indiana 31-10 after a slow start, while Maryland lost a close game to Purdue. Rutgers and Indiana dropped their third consecutive games after 3-0 starts.
The B1G East is very top-heavy, which explains why the Football Power Index sees it as a three-horse race. Michigan State, Indiana and Rutgers are all out of the race at this point and all have under 1% odds of winning the division.
Ohio State has the highest odds of winning it. Michigan is in second, and Penn State has the lowest odds of the three despite not having any losses up to this point.
Here is the how the FPI is predicting the B1G East after Week 6:
- Ohio State – 71.3%
- Michigan – 22.1%
- Penn State – 6.5%
